Indian Summer Falls

Lichen dapple boulders as afternoon light spills across the scene at an angle perpendicular to the flow of the river. The luminous cross-hatching of light and water is subtle, and sublime.Variance in the photograph first caught my eye during a trip to the southern end of the Wind River Range in early summer. September of this year, I returned, choosing late afternoon to the compose the photograph. A six-second exposure at f/22 introduces time to the image, uniting with texture and tone to achieve tranquility.In the immortal words of Wind River Country Rancher, cyberlibertarian, and Grateful Dead lyricist John Perry Barlow:“I have seen where the wolf has slept by the silver streamI can tell by the mark he left you were in his dream…Come, wash the night time clean”
